George Hanns Flagler County Board of Commissioners

  Prior to becoming a commissioner in 1992, George served as a councilman on the Palm Coast Service District Advisory Council for two years.

George is a semi-retired builder and residential / commercial carpentry apprenticeship instructor his works has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens. George served in the U.S. Army as a Armored Intelligence Sergeant during the Vietnam era and was awarded an Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.

Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1946. George is a proud father and grandfather.

Major Projects
Major Projects initiated by George include:

• Palm Coast Community Park (Jim Holland Memorial Park)
• Flagler County Artificial Reefs
• Princess Place Preserve
• Florida Agricultural Museum
• Save Our Seniors Homestead Exemption (passed by a 3-1 margin statewide)
• Worked to extend the Healthy Kids program to Flagler County residents by obtaining 40%funding from the school board, 40%from Flagler County, and 20% from Florida Hospital-Flagler
• Supported efforts to transfer infrastructure (buildings, roads, equipment) to the City of Palm Coast upon incorporation
• Espanola Community Center
• Supported I-95 overpass at Matanzas Woods Parkway, the paving of Old Kings Road North, Palm Coast Parkway preservation, multi-use complex at the fairgrounds
• Flagler Youth Center and Roller Rink at Flagler-Palm Coast High School
• Preservation of the Old Moody Homestead, located on the Historic Brick Road
