Barbara Revels Flagler County Board of Commissioners

image7Barbara Revels is the Flagler County Commissioner representing District 3, which includes the coastline of Flagler County south of The Hammock to the Flagler, Volusia county line and the southern end of Palm Coast including the neighborhoods of Quail Hollow and Seminole Woods. She grew up in Flagler County and is the daughter of a historically prominent family here. Her grandfather is the late George Wickline, who was a Flagler County Commissioner and later Mayor of Flagler Beach. The Wickline Center in Flagler Beach is named after her family. Her mother Catherine Wilson is an author of “A New Beginning” a historical book about Flagler Beach and the main driving force behind the Flagler Beach Museum.

Barbara started out in business in Flagler Beach some 30 years ago. Today she is the president and owner of Coquina Real Estate and Construction, Inc. a full-service real estate and general contracting service.

Her interest has always focused on efficient government that serves the people it represents. She has volunteered countless hours of her time to ensure that her community is responsive to the needs of the residents and at the same time operates as efficiently as possible.

In addition to her local connections, she has a long, personal history of community service and commitment. She was the first woman to preside over the state wide Florida Home Builders Association. She served on Governor Jeb Bush’s Affordable Housing Study Commission, Growth Management Fiscal Impact Advisory Work Group and the Residential Construction Mitigation Advisory Group.

In 1981, she was Flagler County Realtor of the Year. In 1996, she was president of the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce. In 2006, she was recognized as Florida’s “Builder of the Year” by the Florida Home Builders Association. She was elected to the County Commission in November of 2008.

Other Boards & Commissions
Locally, she served on a long list of local boards and commissions including: Chair of the Flagler County Affordable Housing Task Force since 1992 and the former Chair of the Flagler County Planning Board. Barbara co-wrote the Flagler Beach Zoning Ordinance and she has served on the Flagler County Recreation Advisory Board, Long Range Planning Board, School Auditorium Advisory Board, School Student Advisory Council, and Flagler County Apprentice Advisory Board. She is currently Chair of the Advanced Technology College Board of Directors and the Board of Directors of Florida Hospital.
